Mohamed Lotfy rated it liked it Sep 22, Indeed the writing and logic is confused and leaves the reader trianw as to what the author is really asserting: His opinions on the need for change, especially the financial economics professors’ influence in the real world of finance The relating of his work experience is another positive All in all, I’d rather pass on the book, for I can assure anyone that the repetitiveness will be found very annoying.
What started out as theoretical – in no way connected to reality – is now accepted as practical knowledge. Somewill cheer out loud; lecturong will yelp as cherished beliefs are torninto. In one part of the book he is excoriating the practitioners of “pure mathematical finance” for the bringing down of the markets. But, at the very least, it is required reading for anyone who would regulate the finance industry.
He is a frequent contributor to business publications, including the Financial Times, Forbes. Customers who bought this item also bought. The author mixes tenses, makes up words like “panickly” and “noncowardly”and rambles on and on and on with very little coherence or logic. We appreciate your feedback. Persuaded, as I am, that quant analysis may have failed at its task, and that it bears a nontrivial responsibility of hte recent economic crisis, I find that Triana’s obsessive fingering of the quants as the sole culprits very conveniently forgets to mention that bankers took ridiculously risky and leveraged positions because they wanted to do it in the first place.
