Generally game basics will darkhasic slower and more limiting, but this shouldn’t stop you from trying them out.
They can be a decent prototyping tool or a learning tool if you’ve had no darkbasicc experience. Hi Depends on your skills and what you want. Do you want to make a game fast and like the Basic syntax and you do not need very high performance maybe you can use db. There is no pri in DBPro that I know of yet. Although, there is a forum and a site devoted to DBPro developers. The total engine seems fine. You also don’t have to understand COM. And if you don’t like that one, there is another. I could go on. The main fact is, that every language in its “early years” will not be clean, bug free, and well supported until it has numerous years behind it.
It was not well supported and not well accepted until ANSI stepped in a created darkbsic standard for the compiler writers to follow.
Hence DBPro will continue to improve with time. It is a Windows 3D game programming specific language. Therefore, a mnaual technological hump has been passed for you and all that is needed is physics, scripting, content, and game logic. I’m still looking into incorporating physics and scripting into the language.

DBPro can prl take you so far as other languages. But, when you feel as though you cannot go any further you can always expand it with DLLs.
